The Brioche puzzle is made using a historical and world-famous painting. High-quality wooden puzzle with detailed and vivid artwork reproduction is sure to be lots of fun. Manet supposedly considered still life the “standard of the painter.” From 1862 to 1870 he executed a few enormous scope tabletop scenes of fish and organic product, of which this is the last and generally intricate. It was enlivened by the gift to the Louver of a composition of a brioche by Jean Siméon Chardin, the eighteenth-century French expert of still life. Like Chardin, Manet encompassed the rich bread with things to animate the faculties — a splendid white napkin, delicate peaches, sparkling plums, a cleaned blade, a radiant red box — and, in conventional style, finished off the brioche with a fragrant bloom.
