Henri Julien Félix Rousseau was a French-born painter who was born on the 21st of May 1844 and died on the 2nd of September 1910. He was a painter of the post-impressionist movement, he painted in Naïve and Primitive ways. In addition to being a painter, he was also a toll and tax collector called Le Douanier. He only started seriously painting when in 1893 when he was 49 years old, he then retired from being an officer to work as a full-time painter. His artworks are masterpieces, due to his work ethic. His work did a major influence on several generations of avant-garde artists. Paintings that are most recognized nowadays by Henri Rousseau are Virgin Forest at Sunset, The Equatorial Jungle, The Repast of the Lion, and Tropical Forest with Monkeys.
